Enter your name as it should appear on your certificate. The US$50 fee covers the test, your certificate and the review of a society application.

  2. Read the rules, try the sample

A sample question shows the format and the clock. Begin whenever you are ready: your private link keeps the test waiting for you.

  3. Answer 36 questions

One question per screen, each with its own countdown of 35 or 60 seconds. Choose a letter from A to H and press Submit. Answers are final.

  4. Get your score at once

Raw score, IQ (SD 15), percentile and rarity, with a PDF certificate anyone can verify and your eligibility for the societies.

Built to keep outside help out

  • Short clocks. 35 or 60 seconds per question leave no time to consult a person, a search engine or an AI system.
  • Pictures, not text. Every question is an image drawn on the page; there is no text to copy or paste.
  • One at a time, in your own order. The 36 questions appear in a random order for each candidate, and none can be seen before its turn.
  • Keys on the server. The answer keys never reach your browser; scoring happens on the server.
  • Watermarked. Each picture carries a faint watermark with your name and certificate ID.
  • Recorded. Leaving the test window, leaving full screen, copying and printing are recorded with your result for the author's review before any society admission.

No online test can rule out every form of cheating. These measures make outside help impractical and visible, and every society admission is reviewed by the author.

Your test is ready,

Welcome back. Your test is in progress: its clock kept running while you were away.

  • 36 questions, one per screen. Each has its own countdown: 35 seconds, or 60 seconds for the hardest and the numerical questions.
  • Choose a letter from A to H (or press its key) and press Submit (or Enter). Answers are final: there is no going back.
  • When a clock ends, the answer you have selected is sent; with none selected, the question counts as unanswered. No marks are taken off for wrong answers.
  • The server keeps every clock. Reloading or a lost connection never adds time; your test continues where it was.
  • Stay in the test window: the test asks for full screen, and leaving the window is recorded with your result.

Sample question (not part of the test)

Sample question: a three-by-three grid. Row one has one, two and three circles; row two has one, two and three triangles; row three has one and two squares and a question mark. Options A to H show groups of shapes.

    The RUFIT norm

RUFIT is scored with its published final norm (6th revision), based on 266 valid submissions from candidates aged 16 to 78 whose earlier proctored IQ tests averaged 145 (range 111–174). Raw scores in that sample ran from 1 to 26 (mean 15, SD 7), and the internal reliability was .92.1

Raw score to IQ (SD 15). Rows in italics lie above the highest raw score observed in the norm sample (26) and are extrapolated.

What the norm can and cannot tell you. The sample was self-selected and of high ability, which is what makes the upper range of the table usable. It is not a random sample of the population, so IQs below about 130 are less certain than those above. A raw score of 0 is reported as "below 115".

The online timing. The norm was collected with a 30-minute limit for the whole test. Online, each question has its own clock (35 or 60 seconds), adding up to about 29 minutes. New results are being collected to confirm the norm under per-question timing.

Society admission with RUFIT. 16 of 36 (IQ 147) meets the criterion of the Nereid Society; 36 of 36 (IQ 190) that of the Aphotic Society. The criteria of the Hadal and Exocosm Societies lie above RUFIT's ceiling.

    RUFIT questions

    What does RUFIT measure?

Fluid intelligence: finding the rule behind new figural and numerical patterns and applying it under time pressure. Every question is an original figure with eight answer choices (A–H), so knowledge of words or school mathematics gives no advantage.

    How is RUFIT timed?

Each question has its own clock: 35 seconds, or 60 seconds for the hardest and the numerical questions (19 of the 36). The whole test takes about 29 minutes. The server keeps every clock, so reloading the page or losing the connection never adds time. When a clock ends, the answer you have selected is sent; with none selected, the question counts as unanswered.

    How is RUFIT scored?

One point per right answer, with no penalty for guessing. Your raw score (0–36) is converted to a deviation IQ (mean 100, SD 15) with the published RUFIT norm, 6th revision, from 266 valid submissions (Telicom 33(4), 2021). Your report shows the raw score, IQ, percentile and rarity at once, with a PDF certificate anyone can verify.

Can RUFIT be used for society admission?

Yes. A RUFIT IQ of 147 or higher (16 of 36) meets the criterion of the Nereid Society (99.9th percentile), and a perfect 36 (IQ 190) that of the Aphotic Society. The US$50 fee covers the test, the certificate and the review of your society application.

Can I take RUFIT more than once?

No. Each person may take RUFIT once, so every score is a first attempt. For an adaptive test you may retake, see THETIS.

What if my connection drops during the test?

Your answers are saved on the server as you give them, and the page reconnects by itself. If you reload or reopen your private link, you continue with the question in progress and the time it has left. An answer you chose before its clock ended still counts if it reaches the server within a few seconds.

How does RUFIT keep AI and other help out?

The questions are pictures shown one at a time, in a different order for every candidate, each with a short clock. The answer keys never leave the server. Each picture carries a faint watermark with your name and certificate ID, and leaving the test window, copying and printing are recorded with your result for the author's review. No online test can rule out every form of cheating, but these measures make outside help impractical and visible.

Is RUFIT the same test as the RWRTFI?

Yes. RUFIT was published in 2021 as the Resquites Wide-Range Test of Fluid Intelligence (RWRTFI) in Telicom, the journal of the International Society for Philosophical Enquiry. The 36 items and the norm are the same; only the name and the online administration are new.

    Rules, fee and privacy

    Test rules

Take RUFIT alone and in one sitting, with scratch paper only: no person, AI system, search engine, calculator, program or written aid. Do not copy, photograph, record or share the questions. Each person may take RUFIT once. A session belongs to the person registered for it. Results showing signs of outside help may be withheld from society admission.

    Fee and refunds

The fee is US$50, paid through PayPal (PayPal account or card). It covers the timed online administration, the score report and certificate, and the review of one society application. Because the questions are shown as soon as a test begins, a test that has begun cannot be refunded. If a payment went through but the test did not open, write to jresquites@mensaphilippines.org with your PayPal Transaction ID.

    Privacy notice

Your name, email, year of birth and country are used to run your test, to issue and verify your certificate, and, with your consent, in de-identified research summaries. Answers, response times and the record of leaving the test window are kept with your result for scoring, norm updates and the review of society applications. Your email is never shown publicly. You can hide your name on the public verification page at any time. Data are stored by Netlify and Redis Cloud and are never sold.
